Workshop Includes

  • Three days of LIVE hands-on interactive training, including

    • 2 days of didactic and hands-on learning

    • 1 day of immersive scenarios designed to challenge the learner to think critically, problem-solve, and apply what they’ve learned.

  • Workshop will be tailored to your specific equipment, protocols, and team needs.

  • Upon successful completion of the workshop, students will receive a 3-year certification card.

Workshop Requirements

  • Must hold a current and active Paramedic license or higher

  • Students must successfully complete the online Basic Ventilator Life Support (BVLS) course prior to the workshop.

    (Students MUST present their BVLS Cert. on Day 1 of the workshop)

  • Students must attend the entire workshop to receive credit. Partial credit will not be awarded.

  • Review basic principles and importance of early effective mechanical ventilation.

  • Applying the concepts of Prolong-Field-Care and P.A.C.E. Planning

  • Equipment and logistical challenges faced by austere care providers

    • Resource optimization

    • Integrating non-medical personnel into the team

  • Review essential gas laws and their application

  • Managing the airway

    • Endotracheal tube / Cricothyrotomies / Supraglottic Devices

  • Review Breath Types, Vent Settings, Alarms, Triggers, and Limits, including

    • Pressure Control vs. Volume Control

    • Tidal Volume, Respiratory Rate, PEEP, FiO2, Flow, and Driving Pressure,

  • Review Basic and Advanced Modes

    • Pressure Support, CMV, Assist Control, SIMV, PRVC, IRV, APRV, ASV

  • Review Basic and Advanced Patient Monitoring and Troubleshooting, including

    • Venous Blood Gasses, SpO2, EtCO2, and Volumetric Capnography

    • Loops and Pressure / Flow / Volume Waveforms

    • Static and Dynamic Compliance

    • Time Constants

    • Lung Point-of-Care-Ultrasound

  • Patient Management

    • Trauma / Head Injuries / Burns / Drowning

    • Transfusion Related Acute Lung Injury (TRALI)

    • Severe Obstructive and Restrictive Physiology
